Put on your Red NoseSeptember 17, 2015

Everyone remember Rudolph during the Red Nose Month. This is the time to make certain people happy, but it's not during the Yuletide Season.

Every month of June, people all over the world imagine riding on the love train. They put on a red nose and a wig to amuse people. It's the distressed patients, suffering from grave illness, which these red-nosed people want to cheer up. Some might be reminded of Patch Adams, but let's not find out if he was the first to think of Red Nose Day. In Down Under, those who participate in this campaign are thinking of infants who didn't have the chance to grow into adults.

Technology would make child mortality a thing of the past, but it won't be the case in developing nations. Infrastructure (or the lack of), hygiene, and ignorance are the common factors. It will be very tragic if such a thing happen, as the infant won't experience childhood. It gives parents so much joy, so (Aussie) participants of Red Nose Day are brilliant (and ingenuous) to come up with such an idea. This doesn't mean that it can't happen to you. There's no excuse, and unless you're a parent of an adorable baby, you'll never know when you must deal with child mortality.

Here are some things to remember:

The baby must not sleep sideways or facing the bed. You don't need to figure out what happens next. Make sure you watch the infant slumbering in her crib. If it's not you, then find someone else.

Everyone must practice healthy habits. It's not only the womenfolk who must be fit and eating the right food. Anyone can influence a baby's health in big or small ways.

An infant can be sensitive. You don't have much to worry if you keep the surroundings tidy and the conditions ideal for the baby. If not, then try to be close.

How about those who have lost their newborn? You can't feel their pain, unless you're a mother yourself. If putting a red nose seems odd, if not insensitive, then think of your intention. You want them to forget about the sadness, even for a while. You like to make them live, which they will. But not losing hope. And you want them to know that there are people who still care. This can be challenging, even a bit awkward. Just believe, and imagine the laughter you can bring. It's about the red nose (and the wig).
