It's not one or the otherJanuary 27, 2017
ME Bank conducted a study, where correspondents preferred a holiday over a house. Living in a moment won't be new, and it doesn't mean that it would be an IN thing to be irresponsible. To be financially secure and to see the world would be two different things, which could be achieved at all. It doesn't have to happen at the same time.
It would be important to save for the future, even prepare for retirement years. On the other hand, the pros of travelling could be a long list. Nothing beat good memories, but you must plan it. There's no need to be alarmed about the study, but you can learn some things from it. Let's hear it:
You don't need to keep up with the Joneses. There's no need to book plane tickets to Bali because your neighbours do so. There's a will if there's a way but look at the other side of the coin. If you don't have enough funds, then there's no need to incur debt. The island paradise won't sink into the depths of the sea. It will best to prepare for it, so there will be little (or no) problem at all. If you happen to be a student (and reading it), then you will have trepidation about the possibility of losing money (while on the road). You'll be fine, as long as you don't spend much. This means giving up on parties, where you'll meet fellow backpackers.
Practice makes perfect. It's up to you to determine the amount you'll save for the rainy days. If this is not the case, then this will be a preparation for other plans. Retirement is another thing, which means setting aside a sizable fraction from your income. It's about discipline and self-control on your spending habits. This may force you to be a homebody, which might be a bummer. Then again, you need to look at it from a different angle. There are many things to do at home (aside from dusting off the top of every item in your home). Don't ever think of social media (unless you truly miss your mates from far places). You can figure out a way but take your time.
Don't keep your experience to yourself. Someone would tell you that sharing means caring, which is somehow true at all. There's no need to figure out which ones deserve your generosity, as this is not the point of this post. (And you don't have to consider another one.) It's important to learn about the point of view of others, which will help you decide on a number of things. You may find out the most effective means of saving your hear-earned dollar. You can share your travel experience (or find a travel buddy). And you might figure out that local travelling can be better than a voyage of thousands of miles. You don't need to recall every item here (unless you haven't found better ways). As for your next holiday, it will be up to you to choose which place. Look it over. Good luck!
